End of the Tunnel? HA!

That coveted moment when you hit “Publish” and sit back and relax is the holy grail of an Indie Author’s journey, right? Hahahaha!

After I finally hit publish and felt that “I DID IT!” rush it didn’t take me very long to start panicking. What if something went wrong? What if the format was off? What if I missed a check box? It was a nail biting 12 hours, for sure! At the end of it, I got an email saying that I messed up somewhere.

Damn it all to hell!

Luckily, I had an expert who was familiar with the process on standby to prevent my impending melt down. She got me fixed up and back on track with minimal amounts of tears involved. When I woke up the next morning, I was suddenly a published author.

Now what?

Well, sane people would log into their sales channels and compulsively refresh the page to monitor how their sales were going. I, on the other hand, promised myself I wouldn’t do that until after the New Year. So I went to Amazon and compulsively refreshed my page to see how my sales ranks were doing. I was pleasantly surprised and a little more than just “excited”.

Sales Ranking

I was a mad man. I refreshed like crazy for a solid 26 hours. I stayed on the top 100 in those categories for all 26 of those hours. At one point, I was 25 spaces ahead of The Green Mile by Stephen King.

Best Sales

Dream. Come. True.

I realize that it may not be the BIGGEST breakout success story in the world, or even a success story at all, but I’m damn proud of myself. I made my dream come true. I am a published author. I even spent 26 hours on TWO top 100 lists.

How does it feel? It feels like I need to be bigger and do better next time! You can buy your copy of Blessed: Book One of The United Series by following any of the links below!

It’s been an INSANE ride for the last few weeks around here! Today is the first crest of the first wave scheduled to roll over me in the next year. As I spend every waking hour cramming for finals at school, I also juggle blog posts, Facebook Fan Pages, Tweets, my social live (however diminished), my family, my work, my writing, cover designers, formatters, two cats, a dog, two “wives” and my needy best friend and roommate.

Then days like today happen and it makes it all worth it!

Today, I reveal the cover of my first book.

Today, I have something tangible to show the world.

Today, my writing is real.

Not to toot my own horn, but toot-motherfucking-toot! (thanks, Lola!)

Heaps of thanks go out to my wifey (and minion) Simone Nicole and her sister-wife Lola Stark without whom, I would be floundering. These two women are amazeballs and if I could give them the world, I would in a heartbeat.

**Cover Art and Design Copyright Louisa Maggio. All cover images remain the property of David Michael.

Her twenty-first birthday was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter. She had been preparing herself for the moment she would be a real adult for months.

There was no way she could have prepared herself for what happened instead.

As her nightmares became more real with each night and her behavior became less like her own, Ardra fought to stay on the path she had so painstakingly planned for herself with very little success.

When she becomes the owner of a creepily-human dog named Kaiser, she finds herself oddly at peace with the unexpected addition to her household and clings tightly to him when tragedy strikes and shatters her world.

As she fights to put the pieces back together without losing herself in the Darkness that is building inside of her with each terrible step off of her path, a rag-tag band of supporters rally behind her. Each one of them prepared to go to the ends of the earth and back

She must find a way to defeat the Chaos that has consumed her life or risk losing everyone and everything that she has left. Including her soul.

Lola the Magnificent

This is a first for me. I have yet to promote someone individually who hasn’t done a guest post specifically for me, however, Lola has done SO much more than that! I’m going to take you back to my Do: Network post and I am going to make an example out of her.

I met Lola Stark on the Book of Faces (Facebook) through a friend of a friend of a friend’s friend. In the two short weeks that we have been talking, she has become one of the most important people in my life. Not just because of her knowledge of the industry or her connections, either. Our relationship was one of those magical things where we just “clicked”. We make for a fantastic support group for one another (even though she’s in Australia and I’m in Salt Lake Shitty) and I honestly think I would be completely lost without her (and my other Aussie, Simone, but you guys have already met THAT minion and we know I love her to bits).

That being said, I would like to PROUDLY present you with the cover for her newest release and a teaser from the novel!

Be warned, she IS an Erotica/Romance writer, so if adult themes bother you, proceed with caution!

Happy Writing!

Title: Conflicted Love (Needle’s Kiss, #2)

Author: Lola Stark

Release Date: January 2014

Genre: Romantic Comedy/ Erotica

Designed By: Sarian Royal Indie Publishing and Design

(Conflicted Love is book #2 in the Needle’s Kiss series and should be read AFTER Tattered Love to fully grasp the story.)

Trip’s life motto is simple: get in, get off, get out. His lifestyle works for him, that is until he finds himself in an unexpected situation with the one girl he can’t seem to get out of his mind.

Teeny has been strong for too long. One amazing crazy night, with her best friend’s cocky colleague, leaves her with more than just unwanted feelings and cravings she just can’t seem to quench.

She’s knocked up.

He’s freaked out.

Life is about to get crazy for two people who can’t stand to be close, yet can’t seem to pull apart. Tension and confusion turn into mood swings and midnight snacks. How can things ever go back to simple times when every direction leads to chaos?

I threw my leg over my bike and started for her. The streetlight out front was busted, causing the place to be darker than normal. There was just enough light that as I walked behind her, I could see her sexy little ass encased in those prissy jeans she always wore. I caught up to her at the bottom of the stairs and reached out to grab her arm before she made it any further. Next thing I knew, Teen spun, her fist flying right into my nose; at the same time, she drove her knee up into my groin, dropping me like a sack of shit to the ground.

“F*ckkkkkkkk” I moaned, cupping my junk, rolling up onto my knees, and trying to get my breath back. Pain shot up into my stomach with each attempt.

“Oh, it’s just you.” Teeny breathed hard. I looked up at her through narrowed eyes.

“Oh, it’s just…F*ck, Princess. What the hell’d you do that for?” I wheezed.

“Well, you deserved it. You don’t sneak up behind a chick and expect not to get hit. Now, get up, dipsh*t. You’re making a scene,” she hissed, looking around the complex.

What to say ? Errrr…

Lola hates all things sultanas.

Lola is a little strange and unusual.

Lola has no brain-to-mouth filter (this may

or may not have gotten Lola into trouble – repeatedly).

Lola is keeping Coca-cola in business one

2lt bottle at a time.

Apparently, Lola likes to talk in the third

person about herself.

This here is what my profile says

Lola Stark lives in Australia, Is an at-
home mummy with no filter, raising a hoard of minions. Lola has loved to read for as long as she

can remember. When not wrangling the family, she can be found sitting at her computer, writing,

facebooking or just generally messing around.

I know, I know third person again.

So what else can I tell you about me ?

I have a dog, 3 birds and a pet rock. I

was a teen mum (DON’T DO IT). Right now, I’m alternating writing this and yelling at my kids to stop

jumping on the bed and to go the fuck to sleep before I push them off. I may be a little.. okay, very

Junk food and I have an understanding: I

eat it, it hibernates around my ass and thighs. I love music, almost any kind is fine by me.

I love fiercely and I’m protective of those

that mean something to me, this has gotten me in trouble more times than I can count. I cuss like a

sailor and sometimes smell like one too (hey now, McJudgy, you can’t shower, brush your teeth or hair if

you’re in the middle of writing a book).

I make a mean potato-layer bake and I

have slight road rage. I struggle not to laugh when my kids are inappropriate and say screwy shit. I don’t

really like people…I’m that creepy chick who sits in the corner till she has a booze buzz going on, then

I’m as loud as fuck. I have an addiction to shoes. I smoke like a chimney.

So that’s me!

I’m screwy and funsized (it’s not called short anymore).

You’ll either love me or hate me, but I am always just ME!
